We have been deceived by the word BROADBAND few time already … so lets hear whats will be the projected bandwidth of this broadband rollout ?
You say “BTCL officials said home users can enjoy speeds of up to 256kbps when the network is installed. On the other hand, corporations or business organisations can enjoy speeds of up to 10gb per second.” Ohh great and is that the speed you can maintain if 60% of your users are online ?
The details sayz “Under the project, a total of 17 IP POP (post office protocol) will be set up in different places, connected by an optical fibre network.” Really ? These so called experts think that Fiber Optic on the ground for a flood prone country and a country with people digging holes here and there often without any permit from any authority is a good idea ? You sure about this KT ?
And who is going to maintain these fiber optics (FO ) ? I believe any repair will cost us an arm & leg or in another language a flat nose Korean to fix the damn thing.
They also say “Gradually, the IP network would be utilised to introduce WiMax,” said a high official of the company” Why not WiMAX now ? Wire on the ground is an absolute wate of money… does BTCL have any idea how much will it cost them each year to maintain these wires on theh ground ?
This is no way to spend 280 croes ( 170 of it is loaned to us by SKorea) .
